The city requires a re-roofing permit
The city’s residential building-permit page lists a Re-Roof Permit Application through CityView. As checked in September 2026, it states a $50 fee after approval and a final inspection following permit issuance.
That published fee is the permit fee, not a roofing price. The city also states that a wood-shake application needs proof of at least a Class C fire-retardant roof. A different scope or property type can involve other requirements, so the current city guidance controls the project.
City approval and association approval are separate
Lakewood’s ARB/ARC information says preapproved roofing types and paint colors may be approved by staff; use the current association requirements.
